Mundo Churrasco

Mundo Churrasco
63 Macgregor Terrace Bardon
2/5
Mundo Churrasco is most definitely a mans restaurant, even the prospect of such a restaurant sounds like the place a man would like to go (guys go around with barbecued meat on swords and slice it onto your plate). That's not even mentioning the fact that its pretty much all you can eat. So i went to this restaurant with three friends (all guys) and i would certainly say that this is the kind of restaurant you want to go to with a small group, due to the way food is laid out and the restaurant design. Upon arriving for our reservation at 7:30, we were attended to very promptly by the staff of the place and within 20 Min's of sitting down had been asked by staff if we needed anything several times (which for Brisbane is a good thing). Before long we had our drinks and the guys with meat on swords were frequently our table so often that it was impossible to eat the food that came before another sword of meat came. The meat was usually cooked to the right level of perfectly pink, however it should be recommended that you avoid eating the outside of the meat all the time as the salt will make you regret eating it. The first half of our dining experience was very pleasant however after 8/8:30 the swords of meat became less frequent and the red meat (the main reason to ever come here) was non-existent, this was disappointing as due to my process of having a mid meal digestion break i missed out of eating my fill, however in future visits i will change this process, or go earlier than 7:30.
The sides are mostly barely mentionable and are mostly there to break up the meat flavours, The salsa being the only one of positive mention (i liked the combination of the salsa with the red meat and rice), however the others were either bland, not worth mentioning or in the case of the Falafel, not worth it.
All in all i believe this place is worth visiting, purely for the red meat, the drinks (especially those with the Brazilian spirit cachaca) are wonderful, but an early wind down makes this place reasonable but not one of my favourites.

The main meal they serve the Churrasco, costs 35 dollars a head and is all you can eat. imported beer is 6.9 dollars and a caprianha is 8.9 dollars

Vue Lounge

Vue Lounge
85 Methyr Road Newfarm
1/5
I don't know why I'm rating this place or giving it a review because simply put, it was quite mediocre. I tend to have a rule now days that the swankier a place looks the more mediocre the food is, and 8 times out of 10 this is true.
So i went to this place after a night out and crashing at a friends house at 6am in New Farm. Mostly i went there because i was near Methyr village and needed breakfast and was on the search for eggs Benedict, so after a that weird quiet walk you have when hungover and tired i found a place that had coffee and eggs. It was pretty full which is always a good sign, and i was served pretty quick considering i was spaced out. So i ordered my eggs and coffee (they have three selections for eggs Benedict ham, bacon and salmon). The coffee came out pretty quick as did the bottle of water and ice. The coffee however tasted like it had been roasted in a blast furnace (not really but it was slightly burnt) and while it may have actually been rather quick the eggs felt like they took an eternity. The eggs came out later and while poached rather fine, the sourdough toast they were served on was under-toasted and was difficult to cut with a knife, the most disappointing part of the equation though was the Hollandaise, which tasted like watery mayonnaise without any of the mild tang required to make it Hollandaise.
The lack of wait staff visiting the outside tables also led to me having to go inside to pay the bill, which may be a minor concern, but still adds up to a mediocre experience. However i believe that this place may be worth revisiting.
Eggs Benedict was $15.80 due to my hungover state i didn't read any other prices

In other news, i have determined that Toowong village meats in the Toowong village shopping complex has consistently good meat. I have eaten steaks and other meat bought from there several times in the past few months and have confidence that next time i get meat from there it will be of similarly high quality.
